Looking towards downtown Fredericton from the Bill Thorpe Walking Bridge.

St John River

When the Bill Thorpe Walking Bridge operated as a railroad bridge, and when the St John river saw ship traffic, the bridge operator would swing the bridge’s centre span out, where it would rest on the block until the ship would pass through.
Trucks handle all of the shipping now within New Brunswick.
